The Sound burst onto the English music scene in 1979 with the ep Physical World, soon signing to Warner subsidiary Korova and releasing two of the best albums of the era. The first of them, Jeopardy, comes with a cover that is quite representative of the bands of the time: attraction to the Europe of the beginning of the century, cold colours represented with greyscales, etc. To design this t-shirt, which imagines a supposed promotional clothing that didn’t exist, we have used for the front side the cover of the album but using the original source, a Russian poster from the beginning of the century, to get a better reproduction. For the back side, more Russian illustrations from the 20’s and 30’s and typographies that The Sound used during those years on singles and LPs.

The Sound, a post-punk band led by Adrian Borland, emerged as a distinctive voice in the early 1980s British music scene. Formed in 1979, the group quickly gained attention for their intense and melancholic sound. In 1980, they released their debut album, "Jeopardy," which was characterised by its raw energy and introspective lyrics. This was followed by the critically acclaimed "From the Lion's Mouth" in 1981, showcasing a more polished and mature sound. Despite receiving positive reviews, commercial success eluded them. Nevertheless, The Sound left an indelible mark on the post-punk genre, with Borland's passionate performances and haunting melodies resonating deeply with their dedicated fanbase.
