Material Issue was an American alternative rock band that emerged in the late 1980s and achieved some success in the early 1990s. Material Issue is often credited with being part of the resurgence of power pop in the early 1990s. Power pop is characterized by its emphasis on melody, harmonies, and concise songwriting. Bands like Big Star, The Raspberries, and Cheap Trick were early pioneers of this genre, and Material Issue continued in this tradition. Their knack for combining hooks with rock energy influenced many indie and alternative rock acts that followed. Bands like Weezer, Fountains of Wayne, and Superdrag have cited Material Issue as an influence on their music. For this T-shirt we have taken the official T-shirt of their 1991 tour and we have respected the front part, changing only the back part of the T-shirt that graphically we were not satisfied with. We have used the original vinyl record material to professionally scan and digitize the graphics so that it is the best option to have a t-shirt of this magnificent band. As always this t-shirt is printed on organic cotton of low grammage and exceptional texture.

Limited edition 25 handnumbered copies only!

Material Issue's debut album, "International Pop Overthrow," is considered their breakthrough and most influential work. It featured catchy melodies, jangly guitars, and Ellison's distinctive songwriting. The album's title track and songs like "Valerie Loves Me" and "Diane" received significant radio airplay and critical acclaim, helping the band gain recognition. Despite the critical acclaim and a dedicated fan base, Material Issue's success was relatively short-lived. Material Issue may not have achieved mainstream superstardom, but they have maintained a devoted cult following over the years. Their music continues to resonate with fans of power pop and alternative rock. The band's songs are still celebrated for their infectious melodies and Ellison's clever songwriting.
