At this point there is little that can be said about the Ramones. They are one of the most important bands in the history of popular music and a large number of the songs they composed are anthems for several generations of young and not so young people who grew up with their music, even on a visual level they have become so popular that it is not difficult to see someone in the street wearing a T-shirt with the famous Ramones logo by Arturo Vega who has probably never heard their music in their life.
The period to which this T-shirt belongs is by no means the best period of the Ramones, Dee Dee, an essential part of the band, was no longer with them, and part of their composing force had faded away, on the other hand in their own country they had been ignored for quite some time while in Europe they were an institution that filled stadiums. The Acid Eaters album is a successful album of covers of more or less psychedelic songs from the 60s, pulling from Nuggets on the one hand, garage classics on the other, a pinch of British Invasion and some San Francisco hippie stuff. The readings of 7 and 7 is de Love, a song that fits perfectly with the Ramones’ style, The shape of things to come by Max Frost and the Troopers or Have You Ever Seen the Rain by Credence Clearwater Revival stand out, in short, a minor album to enjoy the Ramones playing a handful of great songs in their style. At Green Slime Shop we have chosen to make this t-shirt because of its rarity as a Ramones Tour t-shirt and for its excellent cover illustration. Hey Ho! Let’s Go
