At Green Slime Shop, as the great Byrds lovers that we are, we couldn’t avoid bringing the most mythical of them, the great Gene Clark, the bird that couldn’t fly. Although his entire discography is wonderful, we have a special predilection for his first album, recorded shortly after his departure from the Byrds, which follows in the wake of the magnificent songs he recorded with them. For the design of this T-shirt we have opted for the naked portrait of typographic elements from the album cover. For the back we have made our own composition using elements of the period and the original typography of the album. As always this design is printed on a top quality Stanley/Stella organic cotton t-shirt with a superb feel.
Limited edition 25 handnumbered copies only!
Main product page
Gene Clark was one of the great songwriters of the 60s and 70s, he wrote most of the Byrds' original compositions on their first two albums and the wonderful Eight Miles High on their third album. Later, due to his inability to fly in an aeroplane and to do the group's tours, he left the band, something that suited David Crosby very well to take the composer's command of the band and start another cover, just as splendid as the previous one. Gene Clark, accompanied by The Group or with The Gosdin Brothers, Doug Dillard or his former bandmates continued to make wonderful recordings like this first LP from which we have made this limited edition T-shirt as a tribute to his enduring legacy.
