The early 90s were not only the years of grunge, Brit-pop, shoegaze bands, etc. There was a movement of bands that mixed the punk of the Ramones or the Buzzcocks with power pop bands from the 70s like The Romantics or Cheap Trick. Punk pop had arrived, bands like Bum, The Pyramidiacs, Young Fresh Fellows, The Model Rockets, Mega City Four, Senseless Things, Bracket or the Dutch band Mashed Potatoes among many others, brought a breath of fresh air to the popular music of the 90s with wonderful pop melodies and accelerated guitars. Most of these bands, like Bum, had a short life, but they were very popular in places like Spain or Japan where they even released live albums. Long live to Bum.
